The Regional Internship Manager will be employed by enFocus and work closely with the South Bend - Elkhart Regional Partnership (SBERP) to lead the South Bend Elkhart Regional Internship program for employers across Northern Indiana. The South Bend Elkhart Regional Program will expand the existing LIFT Network Internship program to create and coordinate approximately 100 annual regional internships in fields such as Social Impact Consulting, Engineering, IT, and Manufacturing. The Internship Program Manager will engage with employers, regional colleges and Universities and local economic development organizations to build a pipeline of internship opportunities, source student applicants and organize social and professional development events. The Internship Manager will report directly to the Director of Programs at enFocus and work with the Education and Workforce Manager at the South Bend Elkhart Regional Partnership to implement the program through their organization. 

Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will fall into the following categories: Talent Acquisition, Internship Program Management, and Administration & Operations.

Internship Talent Acquisition

  • Support the scheduling and logistics of recruiting events to ensure program engagement with diverse talent across the Midwest
  • Develop relationships with key staff, students, and organizations on target campuses
  • Plan and attend recruitment events on target campuses
  • Maintain up to date job postings and publicize them on the appropriate channels, such as internal and external sites (ex: LinkedIn, Handshake, etc.)
  • Conduct initial candidate screens and assist in the interview process as needed

Internship Program Management

  • Perform internship hiring, onboarding, and professional development and social activities for Fall, Spring, and Summer interns
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key employer internship partners in the South Bend - Elkhart region
  • Manage internship Task Force—comprised of regional Chambers of Commerce, intermediaries, and internship managers—to coordinate employer recruitment and the development of summer professional development/social programming
  • Lead processes, meetings, and events related to the LIFT Network Internship Program, including employer and student recruitment/applications, talent-matching procedures, hiring instructions, summer professional development and social programming, employer site visits, pre- and post-internship surveys, hours reporting logs, and intern wage reimbursements
  • Replicate internship best practices to create and manage the South Bend - Elkhart Regional Internship Program, which will expand the existing internship model to sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Social Services, and Business
  • Design more robust talent-matching processes to increase the number of students hired from local colleges and universities

Administration & Operations

  • Develop and lead the execution of plans for program sustainability, including fundraising and grant-writing efforts
  • Maintain applicant tracking systems and track internship metrics for accurate grant and impact reporting
  • Assist with relevant communications needs, including posting regular job/talent needs on enFocus/SBERP communications and social media channels
  • Plan and attend enFocus and SBERP events
  • Support the enFocus Fellowship and other initiatives under SBERP’s Talent Attraction and Retention Initiatives, as needed
  • Support organizational operations, as needed

Requirements & Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree (all majors are considered)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with Program/Project Management or in Higher Education
  • Ability to work full-time in the South Bend - Elkhart region
  • Must be able to use personal transportation for frequent travel across Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan (~20%)

  • Comfortability in taking initiative and ownership over project activities, priorities, and recommendations amidst ambiguous situations
  • Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills
  • Clear demonstration of leadership experience and/or project management capabilities 
  • Ability to provide strategic insights through problem-solving and research
  • Adaptability to learn new skills and industries quickly
  • Familiarity and/or interest in one or more of the following: business/data analytics, community development, manufacturing, market or production strategy, product development, social impact, supply chain, and/or technology/software implementation

Job Type
Full-Time (~40 hours per week)

Duration & Location
This is a four-year, grant-funded position with a strong possibility to become a permanent role based on the performance and sustainability of the program. You will be expected to move to the South Bend - Elkhart, Indiana Region to work in-person at enFocus and SBERP offices in South Bend, IN, Elkhart, IN, and Niles, MI, and on-site at community sponsors; however, you will also have the flexibility to work remotely on occasion.
