About the Early Childhood Coalition
The Early Childhood Coalition (“Coalition”) was formed to bring together the collective voices of Marshall County in support of advocacy and investment in early childhood education. This comprehensive effort includes maternal & child health,  community support for children and families, and quality childcare and early learning environments. In 2017, the Coalition, together with the United Way of Marshall County and the Marshall County Community Foundation, led a historic grant process to bring in over $230,000 to support early childhood grants for community service providers. The Coalition continues to grow and seeks to engage additional community partners so that all Marshall County families can obtain access to high quality, affordable early childcare. The Early Childhood Education Coalition Manager is responsible for working in partnership with the Coalition to facilitate action teams, lead community engagement activities, support day-to-day  communications, and manage administrative functions.  

Position Description
The Early Childhood Coalition Manager ("Manager") will serve as the leader and spokesperson for the Coalition, managing day-to-day operations and reporting directly to the United Way of Marshall County Executive Director. This position will coordinate with the Marshall County Early Childhood Coalition’s Steering Committee, other Coalition members, and the broader Marshall County community to carry out the Coalition’s mission. Additionally, the Manager will play a vital role in maintaining regular communication with both state and regional early childhood education stakeholders, as well as local early childhood education service providers.

 

Responsibilities

Community engagement and outreach

  • Build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with community partners and identifies opportunities to collaborate and share resources

  • Coordinate activities with Coalition partners to align strategies and actions

  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and collaboration events including relevant community events, as well as occasional events outside of the region, to network with early childhood education stakeholders and to advocate for the goals of the Coalition

  • Plan and manage logistics for Coalition meetings.

Strategy and Program Management

  • Identify current implementation challenges and develop solutions 

  • Work collaboratively with the Coalition to support partner organizations to align work to the collective goals

  • Facilitates monthly Coalition and Steering Committee meetings and prepares agendas and relevant meeting slides/materials in advance

  • Supports the Steering Committee in researching and developing programmatic goals and strategies

  • Implements Coalition programs and educational events; supports the execution of partner programs when appropriate

Communications 

  • Understand and communicate the objectives of the Early Childhood Coalition with clarity to the community and potential partner organizations

  • Maintain open and collaborative communication with internal team members and partner organizations to align and progress the collective work 

  • Maintain the information repositories in support of Coalition priorities

  • Attends and actively engages in public relations and seeks viable partners to create marketing materials

  • Keeps a pulse on the community and proactively identify opportunities to promote and market the vital importance of early education 

Operations

  • With input from the United Way of Marshall County, ensures that sound financial, operational, and administrative policies and controls are in place

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Steering Committee, maintain timely and accurate expenditure tracking for initiatives

Fund development and management 

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Steering Committee, identify potential funding sources and priorities (including grant writing, supporting partner grant applications, coordinating grant  reporting, tracking funding). 

  • Establish and execute fundraising goals

Data collection, analysis, and reporting 

  • Manages collection, evaluation, and dissemination of data related to the Coalition’s goals

  • Work collaboratively with the Coalition to identify metrics for measurement and to develop  reports for grants and other reporting needs

  • Coordinate collaboration of data and research partners 

 

Ideal Candidates

  • Ability to build positive working relationships with cross-sector stakeholders in the local, regional, and  state community. Candidates with an existing network related to early childcare and/or Marshall County organizations is a plus.

  • At least 2 years of work experience. Experience working in early childhood education, community development, or nonprofit administration preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communicator

  • “Spokesperson” presence with the ability to facilitate meetings and speak at events

  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines and create regular reports on program goals for the Coalition

  • Experience working across diverse industries, sectors or stakeholder groups

  • Familiarity with fundraising and/or grant writing is preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Location

The Early Childhood Coalition Coordinator will work in person at the Coalition's offices in Plymouth, IN. This position will also require occasional travel to meet in person with regional stakeholders.

  • Salary Range $50,000 to $65,000 per year commensurate with experience and qualifications
